Day two in Spokane, Washington, was a powerful moment of solidarity and leadership. ATU International President John Costa had the honor of swearing in the newly elected leaders of the Northwest Conference Board and the California Conference Board-two critical bodies that represent and fight for transit workers across the Western United States and Canada.
"You as leaders are the frontline of our fight for justice, dignity, and better lives for our members," said Costa. "Your commitment, passion, and unity will strengthen our Union from the ground up. I'm proud to stand with you as we continue building power for working people. Congratulations to all the new officers-your ATU family stands with you as you step into these vital roles. Together, we're shaping the future of transit and labor, one Local at a time."
Costa also reminded us, "The real power in our movement comes from the courage to lead." With this team at the helm in the West, the future of ATU is not only in good hands, it's unstoppable.
Costa was also joined by International Executive Vice President Yvette Trujillo, Secretary-Treasurer Ken Kirk, and IVPs Jim Lindsay, John Callahan, Art Aguliar, and Michael Cornellius.
