Rep. Sykes Announces $366,185 to Support Mental Health and Substance Abuse Programming in Summit County

AKRON, OH - Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Center for Substance Abuse Treatment awarded $366,185 in Mental Health and Substance Abuse Service Grants to IBH Addiction Recovery in Akron. This grant will help IBH Addiction Recovery continue to provide quality, evidence-based rehabilitation care to individuals suffering from alcohol and drug addiction, including those with co-occurring mental health disorders.

"Programs that treat individuals struggling with addiction and mental illness are critical to improving local public health and our national efforts to combat substance abuse. Investing federal dollars into programs like IBH Addiction Recovery creates a more compassionate and humane society that prioritizes lasting rehabilitation and purposeful reintegration into society" said Rep. Sykes.

"IBH Addiction Recovery is deeply grateful for the generous support of SAMHSA and is humbled to be a recipient of this award. This is a monumental win for recovery efforts in Northeast Ohio and an even bigger victory for the people we serve. Substance use disorder is a complex disease and our model is built on the belief that a comprehensive and holistic approach leads to healthier communities. By addressing housing as a critical social determinant of health and integrating it with evidence-based treatment and vital peer support, we are creating the stability necessary for Ohioans to achieve lasting recovery," said IBH Addiction Recovery CEO Jess Rist.

Integrated Pathways to Recovery integrates clinical interventions, safe and supportive recovery housing, and the invaluable contributions of peer recovery supporters to foster hope, connection, and long-term well-being for individuals with substance use disorder, including those with co-occurring mental health disorders, on their journey to recovery.
