Protecting minors from risks and unwanted influences from the internet

Protecting minors from risks and unwanted influences from the internet

28.8.2025

Question for written answer E-003331/2025
to the Commission
Rule 144
Sebastian Everding (The Left)

There is an urgent need to shield minors against risks and unwanted influences from the internet. In France, a legislative initiative is already in place to enable measures to be taken at a technical level.

  • 1.What is the Commission's assessment of existing and potential technical solutions that cannot be circumvented by minors, such as parental controls that are required to be pre-installed on every device?
  • 2.Will the Commission advocate EU-wide solutions to protect minors effectively - i.e. without easy ways of circumventing them- from risks and unwanted influences from the internet, such as pornographic content, political manipulation, mobbing, violence or unwanted contacts, and what risks does the Commission consider to be a priority?
  • 3.What further measures is the Commission considering in the areas of prevention and the fight against crime to protect minors from risks and unwanted influences from the internet?
