Washington, D.C. - Today, the Honorable Brent G. Ingraham, a presidential appointee confirmed by the United States Senate, was sworn in as the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology. Mr. Ingraham will oversee a $170 billion portfolio across more than 550 Army acquisition programs, ensuring Soldiers remain equipped with cutting-edge technologies and capabilities to meet future challenges.
As the ASA(ALT), Mr. Ingraham serves as the Army Acquisition Executive, Senior Procurement Executive, Science Advisor to the Secretary of the Army, and Senior Research and Development official. He also has principal responsibility for all Department of the Army matters related to logistics.
Mr. Ingraham brings extensive experience from his prior roles, including most recently performing the duties of Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, where he was responsible to the Under Secretary of Defense for all matters pertaining to acquisition, contract administration, logistics and materiel readiness, installations and environment, operational energy chemical, biological, and nuclear defense, the acquisition workforce, and the defense industrial base. Mr. Ingraham also previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Platform and Weapon Portfolio Management, where he managed major platforms and weapons capability portfolios across the Department of War, to include air, surface, cyber, and electronic warfare systems.
His career highlights include serving as Executive Director of the Joint Rapid Acquisition Cell, Chief Engineer for the Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected All-Terrain Vehicle, and Director of Surface Warfare. He began his career in the automotive industry as a powertrain engineer and transitioned to federal service in 2010. His contributions to vehicle survivability earned him the Navy's Top Scientist and Engineer of the Year Award in 2013.
Mr. Ingraham holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of New Hampshire and has received numerous accolades, including the Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Service and the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Meritorious Civilian Service.
Under his leadership, ASA(ALT) will continue to drive innovation, acquisition excellence, and logistical readiness for the Army.
