DUBUQUE, Iowa - As an Easter people living in the light of the resurrection, the University of Dubuque will hold its annual Convocation for Thanksgiving and Remembrance at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in Blades Chapel, Blades Hall. The service will also be livestreamed to UD's YouTube channel.
UD will pause as a community to remember their hope and faith in the God who overcomes death, and to give thanks for the lives of those they have lost this past year.
Jesus offers a gentle invitation, "Come to me, all you who are weary and carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Many know such weariness in the grief they carry, the losses they hold quietly, and the weight of what has been and what has changed. Still, Christ meets people with rest, with presence, and with peace.
Convocation for Thanksgiving and Remembrance will take place during the regular chapel hour, with classes delayed until 11:45 a.m. During the convocation, the Spartans community will remember UD students, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees, friends, and family who are close to their hearts.
