IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 6, 2025 Governor Lujan Grisham announces another grandstanding Special Legislative Session Santa Fe, NM - Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced that she will convene a second Special Legislative Session this year, scheduled for November 10, 2025. Lawmakers are being summoned back to Santa Fe in response to the U.S. Senate Democrats' refusal to reopen the federal government. During the session, the governor will ask legislators to allocate additional state funds to keep the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) running. "If the governor really wanted to help SNAP recipients, she would urge Senators Heinrich and Luján to vote yes on a continuing resolution," said Chairwoman Barela. "Heinrich, Luján, and their Democrat colleagues in the Senate have done unimaginable harm to the American People by CHOOSING to keep the government shutdown - they own this." To the surprise of no one, Governor Lujan Grisham and Democratic leadership in the legislature are not expected to address the crime epidemic that is hurting New Mexico. When given the opportunity to do that last special session, they did not pass a single bill that addressed violent crime, homelessness, or the drug problems our state faces. New Mexico faces many problems due to the direction Democrats are taking the state. Economic opportunities for hard-working New Mexicans have not improved, the public education system in our state is abysmal, and a slew of other issues remain as Democrats turned a blind eye to every one of them. This upcoming special session is virtue signaling at its finest as the legislature attempts to fix a problem that Democrats created. ### |
