Watch: Bobby Bones Reveals Facts About Dolly Parton 'That May Surprise You'

Bobby Bones reminisced on "a few reasons Dolly was truly one of a kind."

Dolly Parton "died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old," stated an official announcement issued Tuesday (August 25). Her representatives confirmed to PEOPLE later that evening that Parton died "after bravely facing a brief battle with cancer."

Bobby shared "some Dolly Parton fun facts" in a clip on Instagram on Wednesday (August 26). The full segment with more facts about Parton can be found on the Bobby Bones Show YouTube channel. In the clip, Bobby revealed:

• "Dolly once entered a Dolly Parton lookalike contest and lost."
• "She modeled her famous look after 'the town tramp.' …As a kid, Dolly saw a local woman with huge blonde hair, makeup, tight clothes and high heels, and thought she was beautiful. But when people told Dolly that the woman was trash, she said, 'well, that's what I want to look like.' And so she did."
• "Dolly has tattoos, but she said almost nobody gets to see them. She's confirmed she has a few small, tasteful tattoos, mostly butterflies, ribbons, bows and flowers. She said some were used to cover scars."
• "Her nails are the percussion in '9 to 5,' the beginning of that song, the rhythm that you hear… It's supposed to be a typewriter, but they did it with her fingernails. She actually wrote '9 to 5' while filming the movie. It was her first starring role, and she would work on the song between scenes."
• "There are Dolly Parton college courses. So you could take Appalachian Culture. You could take Dolly Songwriting. You could take Business, and Dolly Philanthropy at different colleges."
• "What animal was named after Dolly? …The cloned sheep, Dolly. I didn't know it was named after Dolly Parton. I knew it was named Dolly."
• "She secretly helped produce Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Dolly's production company was involved in the original Buffy movie and television series. She wasn't an onscreen producer, but Dolly was connected to it."

Bobby quickly shared a video on Instagram on Tuesday after news broke of the legend's passing. He said, in part, "I don't think you had to spend time with Dolly to love Dolly, is the crazy thing. She was such an ambassador for country music. But she was so famous, but still, she did not act like that at all. I loved being around her. …We loved you, Dolly." The official announcement issued Tuesday states that "Dolly is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Carl Thomas Dean (1942 - 2025), her mother Avie Lee Caroline Owens (1923 - 2003), and father, Robert Lee Parton, Sr. (1921 - 2000). …At Dolly's request, a small, private service will be held for immediate family. Dolly's fans and friends from around the world are encouraged to pay tribute to Dolly on social media by tagging @DollyParton or by leaving a message at www.dollyparton.com. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library."
