Update #3 - Navarre Beach Restoration Project

Crews began replenishing sand within the first phase of Navarre Beach on Mon., Dec. 23 from near 7631 Gulf Blvd. to the west end of Navarre Beach. Due to mechanical issues, the west end of Phase 1 will be completed at a later date. Crews began working in Phase 2 of the project and have completed this portion, which is east of 7361 Gulf Blvd. to the Sundunes Condos, 7979 Gulf Blvd. Once the Glenn Edwards returns from port at the end of the week, crews will finish the remaining portion of Phase 1, west to the Gulf Islands National Seashore boundary.

The public is advised to refrain from entering restricted areas of Navarre Beach during the ongoing beach renourishment project. For safety reasons, residents and visitors should wait until these areas have officially reopened before accessing renourished sections to search for shells.

Beaches surrounding the construction area will be open to the public and sand ramps will be placed over the pipeline to allow beachgoers access to the gulf.

Crews will operate 24/7, including holidays, and will place around 700 feet of sand per day. Each phase is expected to take around seven days. Dates are weather and mechanical-issue dependent and may not be exact.

The restoration limits are from approximately 900 feet east of the Navarre Beach Pier and continue west to the Gulf Islands National Seashore property. Weather permitting, the estimated 30 days of sand placement is expected to be completed by late January 2025. Endangered species monitoring and relocations, including for sea turtles, will be performed by Santa Rosa County consistent with the county's environmental permits.
