Shore Medical Center announced today that Ron Reed of Absecon has been named its November Guardian Angel of the Month for providing passionate and exceptional patient care. Shore established the Guardian Angel program to enable community members to say 'thank you' to a special Shore caregiver through a donation to the medical center in their honor.
Reed began working as a Nurse Technician in Shore Medical Center's ER in September 2001. Sherri Richmond, Director of Emergency Services, says Ron is a reliable team player who is always willing to share his many years of experience with his colleagues.
"Ron displays a positive attitude every day when he walks on the unit. He is respected by everyone he comes in contact with. He always looks for ways to make the department more efficient, and he is knowledgeable and always willing to learn and teach," Richmond said.
A patient recently made a Guardian Angel donation to the medical center in Reed's honor and had this to say about him:
"I am grateful for Ron's thoughtful care and conversation during various wait times and tasks he needed to perform. Having a calming and competent person at a stressful time was incredibly reassuring. Shore is fortunate to have such a strong team player among the Emergency Department staff."
Reed enjoys spending time with his family, including his seven children, and has many hobbies including fishing, football, basketball and martial arts. He served as an EMS provider for 14 years at various organizations, and before coming to Shore, he was honored by Harrah's Casino for his service as a culinary cook.
Shore Medical Center's Guardian Angel program provides an opportunity for patients and families to recognize anyone at Shore who makes a difference in their care or experience. Guardian Angels are recognized among their peers and presented with a Guardian Angel pin at Shore's annual pinning ceremony.
