The City of Tulsa is gearing up for snowfall expected to enter the area Thursday into Friday.

Currently, City street crews will be reporting at 2 a.m. Thursday to pre-treat elevated surfaces and Downtown streets. Prior to snowfall, these surfaces will be treated with brine (salt/water mixture) to assist with the melting process. Throughout the event, crews will work 12-hour shifts until all areas are treated and passable.

The City of Tulsa wants to remind drivers to be cautious and keep their distance from brine trucks and snowplows, keeping at least 150 feet back.

Shelters & Warming Stations
The City of Tulsa continues to work with Housing Solutions Tulsa and A Way Home for Tulsa agencies to mobilize resources to protect the lives of people experiencing homelessness.

As part of ongoing efforts to keep people safe, the two overflow shelters - the Rose Bowl and Tulsa Dream Center - will stay open through the day on Saturday so guests and others in need of shelter can stay dry and warm following the forecast snowfall. Additionally, all of the current warming stations will stay open as well.

What to Do if You Encounter Someone Unhoused and in Need of Help

• In an Emergency: Call 911 immediately for urgent medical or safety concerns.
• Request Outreach Assistance: If someone needs help from an outreach team on-site, fill out an Outreach Request Form and we will send someone out to check on them as quickly as possible.

How You Can Help

• Donate Winter Gear: Items such as warm blankets, hats, gloves, and socks are greatly needed. Donations can be made at Tulsa Day Center, 415 W. Archer.
• Support Local Shelters: Monetary contributions to local shelters and outreach teams ensure quick and flexible support where it's most needed.
  If you're an organization interested in opening as an overflow shelter location during weather events, visit www.cityoftulsa.org/weather and click the "Warming Stations" drop down.

Waterline Break Reporting
While the cold weather this week hasn't had a major impact on the number of waterline breaks we're seeing, extended severe cold can sometimes cause waterline breaks on City streets and in neighborhoods. If you suspect a break, first check the waterline break board, www.cityoftulsa.org/breakboard, to see if a break has already been reported. If not, you can report it by calling (918) 596-9488.
