On September 3rd, officers arrested a man in connection with the burglary of Three One Four Pizzeria, Auto Options and Oak Barrel Winecraft.
Shortly before midnight on August 31st, security cameras captured a suspect emerging from an older model silver Volvo and walking to and from Three One Four Pizzeria (1329 Gilman Street).
The suspect forcibly opened one safe and stole another safe. It was determined that the suspect stole numerous alcohol bottles and tools and broke numerous items.
Utilizing FLOCK technology, officers were able to locate the suspect's vehicle the following day (September 2nd)-where they developed additional information leading to the suspect's identity. Officers subsequently obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect (a 55-year-old Berkeley man).
As it turned out, detectives learned that this same suspect was already wanted in connection with two commercial burglaries that occurred in 2024 between June 27th and June 29th. In those cases, two neighboring businesses (Auto Options and Oak Barrel Winecraft) were burglarized by two suspects-where the suspect's DNA was found at the scene. In addition to stealing thousands of dollars' worth of tools, the suspects also stole two vehicles parked inside the auto shop.
On September 3rd, officers arrested the suspect in the parking lot of his Berkeley residence. When officers conducted a search warrant inside his residence, they found a pry bar and other stolen property.
On September 4th, the Alameda County District Attorney's Office charged the suspect with muliple counts of burglary and auto theft.
