As part of its ongoing commitment to student success and well-being, Niagara University recently launched PurplePing, a free app that will keep students connected, informed, and supported while they're on campus. The app, which was developed in collaboration with AppArmor, provides students real-time university updates and convenient access to campus resources directly through their phone.
"We are delighted to introduce this new app," said Dr. Timothy Ireland, Niagara University provost and vice president of academic affairs. "By centralizing key resources, important updates, and safety features, we're empowering our students with the tools they need to thrive both academically and personally. We believe this app will strengthen our campus community and enhance the overall student experience."
Some of the features of the app include links to wellness/student life resources, Niagara University websites, and email; access to IT and facility services; real-time emergency notifications; a searchable campus map; and safety features including a mobile blue light with GPS and a "Friend Walk" option that lets students share their live location with a friend. The app also allows students to report issues and provides quick-dial buttons to emergency contacts.
