Dignity Health St. Elizabeth Community Hospital Earns 7th Consecutive Hospital Safety Grade ‘A’

New Grade for spring 2025 is a national recognition for commitment to patient safety

RED BLUFF, CALIF. MAY 2, 2025 - Dignity Health St. Elizabeth Community Hospital earned an "A" Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an "A," "B," "C," "D" or "F" grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

"St. Elizabeth Community Hospital is honored to receive this prestigious quality and safety award for the 7th consecutive reporting period," said Rodger Page, St. Elizabeth Community Hospital's President. "For our rural community, this award signifies that our neighbors, friends, and families have access to consistent exceptional healthcare right here at home, without having to travel long distances to larger cities."

"Achieving an 'A' Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety," said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. "I extend my congratulations to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first."

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring. For the Spring 2025 measurement period, 19 Dignity Health California hospitals received an "A" Hospital Safety Grade - receiving the most "A" grades out of any health system in the state.
