WFP and Türkiye deepen strategic partnership to tackle global food insecurity

NEW YORK / ANKARA - On the margins of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the Republic of Türkiye reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the fight against global hunger.

During a bilateral meeting in New York, WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain and Türkiye's Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Hakan Fidan, discussed practical steps to enhance collaboration, positioning Türkiye as a key humanitarian partner. The meeting underscored Türkiye's new role as an emerging donor.

The meeting explored the potential for a more systematic partnership, including the possibility of Türkiye serving as a strategic grain stock center to enable rapid emergency response.

With over 60 years of experience, WFP is committed to leverage its global logistics network to deliver food assistance where it's needed most-saving lives and changing lives every day.
