UHCL recognized as a 2024 ALL IN Most Engaged Campus for College Student Voting

The University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL)Division of Student Affairs(DSA) proudly announces that the campus has been named one of the 2024 ALL IN Most Engaged Campuses. The ALL IN Most Engaged Campuses for College Student Voting recognizes the outstanding efforts of colleges and universities to increase nonpartisan student voter participation. UHCL joins a group of 471 colleges and universities recognized by ALL IN for completing four core actions:

1. Participating in the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge.

2. Sharing the 2022 National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement (NSLVE) reports with campus voting data through ALL IN.

3. Developing and submitting a 2024 democratic engagement action plan to ALL IN.

4. Having a current signatory to ALL IN's Higher Education Presidents' Commitment to Full Student Voter Participation.

"The fundamental value of civic engagement plays a pivotal role in developing our students. We are committed to empowering them with tools, fostering a safe environment, and providing opportunities for our students to participate in their communities. Their engagement is crucial in shaping our society," saidDr. Tina Powellson, vice president of Student Affairs at UHCL.

Dr. Jordan Jones, director ofStudent Involvement and Leadership, highlighted the office's role in securing this designation.

"Being recognized as a 2024 ALL IN Most Engaged Campus is a testament to the passion and commitment of our students. At UHCL, we believe civic engagement is a cornerstone of leadership, and we're proud to help create spaces where students feel empowered to use their voice and shape their communities," said Jones.

The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge empowers colleges and universities to achieve excellence in nonpartisan student democratic engagement. Campuses that join the Challenge complete a set of action items to institutionalize nonpartisan civic learning and voter participation. The Challenge currently engages 10.8 million students from over 1,075 institutions in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
