I-285/I-20 West Interchange Project Anticipates Blasting and Traffic Pacing Along I-20
ATLANTA - Georgia Department of Transportation's (Georgia DOT's) contractors will be implementing traffic pacing near the I-285/I-20 west interchange to perform the controlled blasting of rock. The blasting will take place within the interior of the interchange along the I-285 southbound to I-20 eastbound ramp.

Traffic pacing may be required along I-285 southbound beginning Monday, July 21, between 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The controlled blasting work and traffic pacing may occur on weekdays, Monday through Thursday, through the end of summer 2025 and is necessary to allow the developer to prepare the site for future construction activities.

Traffic pacing may occur at the following locations for up to approximately 20 minutes:
  • I-285 southbound starting at Bolton Road
During this time, motorists should expect brief delays while traveling through the corridor and are encouraged to use their preferred navigation app for alternate routes. Law enforcement will be in place to assist with traffic control during the pacing. Residents may experience brief periods of increased construction noise during the blasting.
