See remarks below:
"Thank you, Mr. Chairman. It's an honor to be before this committee and introduce President Trump's nominee for the Southern District of Indiana.
Justin Olson is well qualified for this vital position.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Grove City College. He went on to earn his law degree at Indiana University's Maurer School of Law.
For five years, Justin served his country as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of Indiana. There, he led efforts to combat healthcare fraud and address the opioid crisis.
Justin has fought to protect core American liberties. He's currently representing Riley Gaines and other female athletes who have been forced to compete against men in sports, and as a dad of three daughters, I'm very grateful for his leadership on that front. Justin is seeking justice for women who have been harmed by unsafe and discriminatory practices.
Justin himself is a husband and father to five children; they're all sitting back behind me. and he's a recognized leader in our community in Indianapolis. He's served as an elder at his church and a Board member of the Jewish Community Center of Indianapolis.
This is the first time, Mr. Chairman, I've been through this process, being able to weigh in to the President of the United States and interview perspective judges to serve on the federal court, on the federal bench, and one thing that strikes me about Justin is his courage. That's what I'm looking for when it comes to a judge who is serving on the federal level from my home state. Frankly, I had never met or heard of Justin before I went through this process. Didn't have a relationship with him, but I was blown away by his credentials, his background, what he brings to the table.
There are lots of things you can say in an interview, but you can't fake courage, you can't fake your record, and Justin Olson has a record of doing the right thing and stepping up to the plate.
I'm so grateful to President Trump who nominated Justin Olson to serve as a judge on the Southern District of Indiana. I look forward to voting for him, and I ask this committee to give him your full support. I'm confident he will serve our state and his country well. It's my honor to support him.
Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I yield back."
