STONY BROOK MEDICINE COMMUNITY MEDICAL GROUP WELCOMES REBECCA N. MONASTERO, MD, TO SOUND NEUROLOGY
Rocky Point, NY, September 24, 2026 - Rebecca N. Monastero, MD, has joined Sound Neurology, a practice of Stony Brook Medicine Community Medical Group, part of Stony Brook Medicine's expanding network of community practices.
Dr. Monastero is a board-certified neurologist with subspecialty training in clinical neurophysiology, a field focused on assessing and diagnosing conditions that affect the function of your body's nervous system.

"We are proud to introduce Dr. Rebecca Monastero as a provider for general adult neurology care. She follows in the footsteps of Dr. McWilliams, as well as myself, who trained as residents, chief residents, and fellows of the Stony Brook Neurology and Neurophysiology programs," said Dr. Augustine Romano, Neurologist at Sound Neurology. "I had the pleasure of meeting her when I was attending and precepting resident clinic at Stony Brook. I excitedly remember the day she asked about the possibility of joining the practice. She has all the qualities that make her a perfect fit for our group."
Dr. Monastero earned her medical degree from the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University. She completed her internship and adult neurology residency at Stony Brook University Hospital, serving as chief resident during her final year. She then completed her clinical neurophysiology fellowship at Stony Brook University Hospital.
"As a Long Island native, I am honored to join Sound Neurology to provide comprehensive and compassionate neurological care to my local community," said Dr. Monastero. "My training and education at Stony Brook Medicine taught me the value of high-quality patient-centered care, and I look forward to upholding that clinical standard alongside my fellow Stony Brook-trained colleagues."
Dr. Monastero strengthens Sound Neurology's ability to provide comprehensive neurological services to patients in Rocky Point and the surrounding communities.
