WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senators Dave McCormick (R-PA) and Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) introduced a resolution to designate this week as "Careers in Energy Week." As a global leader in energy production, the United States relies on a highly skilled and rapidly growing energy workforce. These dedicated workers are the backbone of a dominant industry that keeps our energy reliable, affordable, and strong.
By shining a light on the people who power our homes, fuel our economy, and support critical infrastructure, we aim to raise awareness of the essential role they play and to inspire the next generation of skilled workers to explore careers in this field. A companion resolution was introduced by Representatives Glenn "GT" Thompson (PA-15) and Donald Norcross (NJ-01).
"I'm proud to introduce this resolution honoring the hardworking men and women who power our nation. Our energy workers are the backbone of a sector vital to our national security and economic strength," said Senator McCormick. "Whether they are skilled tradespeople maintaining essential infrastructure or engineers and researchers advancing renewable and cutting-edge technologies, millions of Americans work toward keeping our nation's energy reliable and affordable. This week, we recognize their dedication and thank them for their vital service to our country."
"Careers in Energy Week is about reaffirming our commitment to the folks who keep the lights on, keep our homes warm, and strengthen our economy both at home in Michigan and across the country," said Senator Slotkin. "From skilled tradespeople and line workers maintaining critical infrastructure, to engineers and innovators advancing renewable technology, our energy workforce is the backbone of America's prosperity and national security. This week, we highlight the many rewarding, good-paying career paths that power our state and our country's future."
"The U.S. is a global leader in energy production, and our Careers in Energy Week resolution recognizes and honors the millions of individuals who work to deliver safe and reliable energy and highlights the rewarding career opportunities available for students and adult learners."-U.S. Rep. Glenn "GT" Thompson (PA-15)
