Proctor Resident Sentenced to Probation for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material

The Attorney General's Office today announced that Michael Dubois, 37, of Proctor, Vermont, was sentenced in Vermont Superior Court, Rutland Criminal Division, after pleading guilty to one misdemeanor count of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.

The Court, Judge Cortland Corsones presiding, sentenced the defendant to one to two years in prison, all suspended under a 10-year term of probation. Conditions of Mr. Dubois' probation include mandatory completion of sex offender programming, no contact with children under 16, and restricted access to electronic devices and the internet.

If Mr. Dubois violates the terms of his probation, he faces up to two years in prison. Mr. Dubois is also required to register as a sex offender until 10 years have passed since the completion of his sentence.

VT-ICAC investigates cases of child sexual exploitation occurring over the internet, including the production and online distribution of child sexual abuse materials. VT-ICAC also provides forensic examination services, technical assistance, law enforcement training, and public education and outreach.
