Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs attended Australia Day Reception
On 23 January 2025, H.E. Dr. Lalivan Karnchanachari, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended the Australia Day reception at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Bangkok. On behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Vice Minister presented congratulatory flowers to H.E. Ms. Angela Macdonald, Ambassador of Australia to Thailand.
The Australian Ambassador congratulated Thailand on the marriage equality act, which took effect on 23 January 2025, and commended the close friendship between Thailand and Australia, as reflected by the exchange of high-level visits, including the official visit to Thailand by H.E. General, The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), former Governor-General of Australia in February 2024 and the official visit to Australia by the Minister of Foreign Affairs to co-chair the 2nd Thailand-Australia Biennial Foreign Ministers' Meeting with Senator, The Honourable Penny Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia in December 2024.
Thailand and Australia have enjoyed a close and enduring relationship for over 73 years. As friends and Strategic Partners, cooperation between the two countries encompasses all sectors, especially defense, security, economic, education, agriculture and people-to-people ties.
