Georgia Democrats' Downballot Wins Put Jones, Carr, and Raffensperger on Notice

In the latest sign of momentum for the 2026 governor's race, Georgia Democrats continue to notch major upset victories - flipping a state House seat yesterday that Donald Trump won by 12 points after flipping two seats on the state Public Service Commission in November and a mayoral race in Roswell last week.

Burt Jones, Chris Carr, and Brad Raffensperger are officially on notice as Georgians are resoundingly rejecting Republicans' deeply unpopular economic agenda that raises costs and makes health care unaffordable, which the GOP gubernatorial candidates all support.

While Democrats are running and winning on affordability, Jones, Carr, and Raffensperger remain locked in a nasty and chaotic race to the right that is more focused on attacking each other rather than on the issues that Georgians care about. Costs and health care are major liabilities for the Republican field - Jones, Carr, and Raffensperger all support cost-raising tariffs, have records of opposing Medicaid expansion, and backed Trump's tax law, which is jacking up health care premiums for Georgians and has already closed a maternal care unit.

"Alarm bells are going off for Burt Jones, Chris Carr, and Brad Raffensperger today as Georgians are making it clear that they are ready for change and want a leader who will fight for them, not politicians who support jacking up costs on Georgia families and making health care unaffordable," said DGA spokesperson Kevin Donohoe.
