Adelphi has outpaced other local universities on the Forbes list of America's Top Colleges-which focuses on student outcomes-for each of the past three years.

Adelphi has once again been recognized by Forbes as the highest-ranked private university on Long Island and by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation's Best Colleges.

When Forbes published its annual America's Top Colleges at the beginning of September, Adelphi found itself ranked above all other private universities on Long Island for the third consecutive year.

Three weeks later, the University received more confirmation of its status as an academic leader from U.S. News & World Report, which honored Adelphi as a Best College for the eighth straight time. Adelphi's undergraduate programs in nursing and psychology also received badges as bests again this year, while the University repeated as a Top Performer on Social Mobility.

The University also holds multiple bests in the current U.S. News graduate school rankings, which were announced in April. Adelphi is ranked a Best Nursing School, Best Public Health School, Best Psychology School and Best Social Work School. Five graduate programs also received bests, including our master's degree programs in nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice, PhD in Clinical Psychology, MS in Speech-Language Pathology, and part-time MBA.

The Value of an Adelphi Degree

The Forbes rankings are notable for their focus on outcomes. The publication describes its America's Top Colleges list as a showcase of "500 colleges that produce successful, high-earning and influential graduates from all economic backgrounds, with less student debt."

By those standards, Adelphi ranks as the top private institution on Long Island, ahead of Hofstra University, Molloy University, the New York Institute of Technology and Long Island University.

The Forbes ranking reflects Adelphi's commitment to academic excellence and student success. It is a commitment that produces outstanding outcomes for graduates.

  • The average annual salary of Adelphi's 2023 baccalaureate graduates is $82,539, 30 percent higher than the national average
  • 93 percent of our 2023 baccalaureate graduates were employed or continuing their education one year after graduation.
  • Adelphi has had particular success graduating students who receive needs-based Pell Grants. This success has once again placed the University on the U.S. News list of Top Performers on Social Mobility in 2026.

"Adelphi's steady climb in the Forbes Top Colleges rankings is a powerful endorsement of our University's mission," said Chris Storm, PhD, Adelphi's interim president. "This recognition reflects our deep commitment to providing a personalized education, exceptional career readiness and meaningful community engagement. Our strategic initiatives are directly responsible for our growing reputation, paving the way for our continued success."
