Candidate filing for May general election opens Jan. 14
Lewisville residents wanting to run for a spot on the Lewisville City Council in 2026 can file for candidacy between Wednesday, Jan. 14, and Friday, Feb. 13.
City Council Places 1 and 3 are scheduled to be on the ballot for election for three-year terms. Bob Troyer currently holds the position of City Council Place 1; and Ronni Cade currently holds the position of City Council Place 3.
Candidates must live in their assigned district to run and are elected at large by voters citywide. To see a map of each district, go to the "Residential Districts" page at cityoflewisville.com.
This year, all candidates must include a petition that specifies the place for which they desire to become a candidate and that petition must be signed by qualified voters of Lewisville to vote for the candidate. The City Secretary will verify the signatures submitted on each petition to determine whether the required minimum number of valid signatures has been met. Any petition that does not meet the minimum signature requirement will be rejected. The addition of this petition is due to Charter Amended approved by voters in late 2025. Early voting runs Monday, April 20 - Tuesday, April 28.
Election day will be Saturday, May 2.
The City Secretary's Office will receive candidate applications for a place on the ballot at Lewisville City Hall, 151 W. Church Street, during regular business hours, Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and Friday, 7:30-11:30 a.m.
