WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Jim Risch (R-Idaho) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), chairman and ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today issued the following statement after members passed 24 pieces of legislation out of committee.
"The legislation advanced by the Committee today addresses some of the most pressing challenges currently facing U.S. national security. Our PEACE in Sudan Act provides additional tools to raise the costs of the devastating conflict across Sudan, the U.S. Tech PATH Act boosts American technological competitiveness by helping foreign partners procure American technology, and legislation like the UNLOCK AUKUS Act strengthens our partnerships in the Indo-Pacific and helps ensure the United States and its allies remain protected and prepared to counter our adversaries.
"Other legislation protects religious freedom across the globe and champions the human rights of those who are oppressed in authoritarian China. We are very glad to see these bipartisan bills move forward and one step closer to better protecting American interests worldwide."
