NAPA COUNTY - The Napa County Board of Supervisors proclaimed May as Older Adults Month, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the county's growing older adult population. This annual recognition highlights the continued collaboration between Napa and Solano Counties under the Napa/Solano Area Agency on Aging (AAA), a partnership that has strengthened services for older adults across both counties since 2018.
This year's theme, "Flip the Script on Aging," focuses on transforming societal perceptions and approaches to aging, encouraging active engagement and highlighting the contributions of older adults. In alignment with this theme, Napa County is proud to announce the launch of the Connections Napa County website, the Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) for Napa County. This new digital hub provides older adults, individuals with disabilities, and caregivers with reliable information about community programs and services.
Connections Napa County is a collaborative effort led by Providence Community Health Foundation Napa Valley, the County's Information & Assistance (I&A) provider, the Area Agency on Aging (AAA), and the Disability Services & Legal Center (DSLC). These partners, along with a collaborative, are working together to build the necessary infrastructure to ensure that community members can easily connect to the support they need.
The new digital hub is part of the Napa County Master Plan for Aging (MPA), which is a set of action plans that stem directly from the Napa County Older Adults Assessment (NOAA). The NOAA was made possible with the support of the Napa County Board of Supervisors and Health and Human Services Agency that identified the current needs of Napa County residents 60 years and older.
Napa and Solano Counties continue to strengthen regional efforts. The Napa County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) and Solano County Health and Social Services (H&SS) offer a broad spectrum of supports for older and disabled adults, ranging from behavioral health care and fraud prevention to caregiver support and independent living services.
"Older adults who are connected and supported live healthier, more independent lives," said Jennifer Yasumoto, Director of HHSA. "Through initiatives like Connections Napa County and strong local and regional partnerships with our AAA, we are laying the foundation for lasting improvements in how we serve our aging and differently abled populations."
"For three decades, I've had the privilege of working with older adults, and I've witnessed the growing demand for services and the challenges in accessing them," said Celine Regalia, Director of Operations for Providence Community Health Napa Valley. "Connections Napa County represents a meaningful solution, centralizing information and providing personalized guidance to create an age-friendly community. Our Information & Assistance team is ready to support each individual's unique journey-whether it be gathering information, connecting to a community resource, or having someone accompanying you to an appointment. I'm thankful to our partners for their dedication in bringing this resource to our community."
"Our community is aging. Napa County is home to a higher-than-average older adult population," said Elaine Clark, Napa/Solano Area Agency on Aging Executive Director. "I believe that Connections Napa County will become the cornerstone for all of us who need or provide services for these populations. It will make it easier for people to navigate complex systems and connect with the support they need. At the end of the day, our goal is to keep people thriving in the community."
Comprehensive support for older adults is available well beyond the month of May. Explore services offered in the Napa County Resource Guide and Solano County Resource Guide.
