President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov meets with the Ministers of Defence of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States

On April 28, 2026, a collective meeting of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov with the Ministers of Defense of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states took place in Bishkek.

The President warmly welcomed the meeting participants and noted the importance of holding the SCO member states' Defence Ministers' Meeting in Bishkek during Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship of the Organization.

In his address the President of the Kyrgyz Republic emphasized that ensuring security and stability across the SCO space remains a key priority requiring coordinated and consistent efforts from all member states. He paid special attention to countering international terrorism, extremism, and transnational crime, as well as to strengthening trust and mutual understanding between armed forces.

In his response speech the SCO Secretary-General thanked the President for his attention to cooperation within the SCO, for the active and substantive chairmanship, and for the hospitality.

The Ministers of Defence of the SCO member states expressed gratitude for the meeting and reaffirmed their readiness to further develop practical cooperation aimed at strengthening regional security and stability.
