Efforts underway to save Woolwich tree following vandalism

On 8 September 2025, the Harbour Trust became aware of another act of tree vandalism at the Horse Paddock, on the corner of Edgecliff Rd and Clarke Rd, Woolwich.

The Horse Paddock is part of the Woolwich Dock and Parklands, a public park managed by the Harbour Trust.

The Harbour Trust's Environment Officer and our arborist contractor inspected the site on 8 and 9 September, and initial observations indicate that a large Eucalyptus Piperita (Sydney Peppermint) has been poisoned.

We are undertaking treatment measures to help the poisoned tree recover in the hope of saving it. Temporary signage on-site about this act of vandalism will be installed shortly.

The Harbour Trust takes the illegal damage or destruction of trees seriously. Offenders can face significant penalties, including fines and prosecution.

Should you have any information or comment the Harbour Trust encourages community to contact Gladesville Police directly.
