Contract awards signal surge in demand across the globe

International demand for proven air and missile defense systems is rising - and Raytheon, an RTX business, is investing heavily to meet that need with higher production capacity.

Two recent contracts for the Patriot® air and missile defense system highlight that momentum:

  • Raytheon has signed a contract for $3.7 billion to supply Patriot GEM-T interceptors for Ukraine.
  • The Netherlands has awarded Raytheon a $627 million direct commercial sales contract for Patriot radars, launchers and command-and-control stations.

"These awards highlight how our international partnerships are strengthening global security. By increasing production capacity and building resilient supply chains through industry partnerships, we're ensuring Patriot remains ready to defend our allies against the full spectrum of modern threats."

GEM-T interceptors for Ukraine

Under the Ukraine contract, Raytheon will provide one of the primary effectors for the Patriot system: the Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC-2) Guidance Enhanced Missile-Tactical, or GEM-T, which intercepts all types of airborne threats, including tactical ballistic missiles.

Production is expected to take place in part at a new facility in Schrobenhausen, Germany. That facility would play a key role supporting this direct commercial sale and other contracts, ensuring supply chain resiliency and helping to replenish Ukraine's interceptor inventory. The facility is owned by COMLOG, a joint venture between Raytheon and MBDA Deutschland.

Patriot equipment for the Netherlands

The agreement with the Netherlands enhances the country's air and missile defense posture as European nations work to stay prepared amid faster, more complex attacks on sovereign airspace.

Patriot today serves as the backbone of air defense for nine European countries - and 19 nations worldwide - thanks to its decades-long record in combat, where it has proven its ability to counter cruise missiles, tactical ballistic missiles and advanced air-breathing threats.
