Park & Recreation is looking for volunteers to serve as youth sports coaches for upcoming recreational leagues. Volunteer coaches play a vital role in creating a positive, fun and safe environment where young athletes can learn teamwork, sportsmanship and confidence.
No prior coaching experience is required. Training and support are provided, and volunteers receive valuable perks for their service.
"Our volunteer coaches are the backbone of our youth sports programs," said Isaiah McFadden, youth sports coordinator. "They help create a safe, supportive space where kids can learn the fundamentals of sports, build confidence and develop lifelong skills. Whether you have coached before or are brand new, we provide the tools and training to help you succeed."
All volunteer coaches must complete the following clearance process to ensure a safe and positive experience for participants:
Complete a volunteer application
Pass a background check
Complete required coach development courses
Once cleared, youth sports volunteer coaches receive:
Up to three children play for free in the program
Free Gold Tier Fitness Membership (a $190 value)
One free hour of practice space per week
Official youth sports coach badge
Youth sports volunteer T-shirt
