Members of NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs visit Syunik province
"Basically, the visit is on human rights, and we would like to hear questions and problems also on that theme, which you will single out. The main thing we would like to hear are the questions that are directly related to your life, well-being, security, city problems, and we will try to help you in the legislative capacity," the Secretary of the NA Civil Contract Faction Artur Hovhannisyan said this at the meeting with the citizens in Goris.
Deputies of the NA Civil Contract Faction, members of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Artur Hovhannisyan, Marina Ghazaryan and Tigran Parsilyan were in the cities Goris and Kapan, border communities Tchakaten, Nerkin Hand and Tsav of Syunik province on November 4-5.
"The most important theme, on which in general, we should talk with the citizens and understand their opinion, the peace and security agenda, on which we do work day and night," Artur Hovhannisyan underscored at the meeting with the residents of Goris, urging them to present viewpoints and evaluations on those issues, as well as the implementing works.
During the open and sincere talks in Q&A format the residents of Goris and Kapan voiced the various questions concerning them, which referred to ensuring the security of the population, the necessity of tourism, the modern agriculture development, the problems of health care, education spheres, state housing programmes, mining, environment, lack of jobs, demography, outflow of youth from communities, transport issues, and also presented proposals on them.
At the meeting with the residents of Goris reference was made to the Crossroads of peace project developed by the Government, unblocking the roads, the delimitation process going on between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Most of the participants of the meeting emphasized the delimitation and demarcation process, the peace treaty, and they were interested in the issues regarding them.
The residents of the border communities noted the problems referring to the drinking, irrigation water, rural roads, and then added - let there be peace, security, everything will be fine.
The deputies Artur Hovhannisyan, Marina Ghazaryan and Tigran Parsilyan answered the citizens' questions and gave clarifications. It was noted that the raised questions and problems are recorded, and they will be discussed with the counterparts of the executive body.
During the meeting it became clear that very often people were not aware of the implementing programmes. The deputies presented to the residents some programmes and gave additional information.
The visit was organized by the initiative of the Committee with the support of the National Democratic Institute (NDI).
