Rep. Segun Adeyina Issues Statement on Hurricane Melissa and the People of Jamaica

ATLANTA - State Representative Segun Adeyina (D-Grayson) today issued the following statement on Hurricane Melissa and the people of Jamaica:

"Jamaica is more than a destination-it's a home away from home for my family. That's why as Hurricane Melissa, a storm of terrifying strength, bears down on the island, my heart is heavy with sorrow for the people who call this beautiful nation home.

"This is not distant news to me; it's deeply personal. Jamaica has welcomed me, taught me and shown me kindness I will never forget. And now, its people stand in the path of devastation.

"I am heartbroken, but I am also resolved. In the days ahead, I will do everything in my power to support relief efforts-working with organizations on the ground, rallying support here in Georgia and urging a swift, coordinated response from all who can help. I will share information on how we can assist as it becomes available.

"To Jamaica: may you be spared the worst. May your strength endure. And know-you are not alone."

Representative Segun Adeyina represents the citizens of District 110, which includes a portion of Gwinnett County. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Creative Arts & Entertainment, Education and Technology & Infrastructure Innovation committees.
