WASHINGTON -Today, US Representative Rosa DeLauro issued the following statement following her vote in favor of a second War Powers Resolution which directs the President to remove United States Armed Forces from unauthorized hostilities in the Islamic Republic of Iran:

"For over a month, President Trump has been waging a war of choice in the Middle East against Iran. American servicemembers have died, the region has erupted into chaos, and gas prices are skyrocketing here in the United States. The president even threatened to wipe out 'a whole civilization', which would 'die tonight never to be brought back again'.

"He later backed down from these unhinged threats, but one thing is clear-he has no plan to end this conflict. He is out of his depth - and Americans are paying the price.

"That is why I voted once more to support a war powers resolution that would end the war in Iran. Our world is shaken, energy prices have risen, and American families are worse off. Enough is enough-Congress must assert itself and end this illegal war."
