Ascension Seton Hays reveals symbolic sculpture from local artist

Ascension Seton Hays is now home to a new sculpture made by local artist Joshua Farrell. The hospital commissioned Joshua to create a symbolic piece for patients and associates to enjoy. Crafted with purpose and heart, the tree reflects the hospital's mission to offer compassionate, holistic care to every person who walks through our doors. It reminds us that healing is not just clinical - it's also emotional, spiritual, and deeply human.

Joshua, a former facilities manager at Ascension Seton, has created five sculptures for Ascension Seton hospitals.

The new piece is his second sculpture located at Ascension Seton Hays. His work can also be found at Dell Children's Medical Center, Ascension Seton Williamson and Ascension Seton Highland Lakes.

To craft the sculpture, Joshua took inspiration for Ascension's logo, which represents the holy trinity, Ecclesiastes 4:12, and his love of bonsai. Ecclesiastes 4:12 states "A cord of three strands is not easily broken. " The proverb uses the tangible concept of a rope made from three interwoven cords being much stronger than a rope made of just two. Joshua's interpretation includes bonsai roots in lieu of rope.

Staff have witnessed patients meditating in front of the tree while waiting for their loved ones during procedures. Ascension Seton hospitals are proud to feature original art from local and regional artists.
