Integrated inpatient care services expanding to help more patients

At the Cabinet's weekly meeting Thursday, Premier Cho Jung-tai received a Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) briefing on the expansion of integrated inpatient care services. The premier said the MOHW launched these services through the Inpatient Integrated Care Trial Program in 2022, effectively alleviating the caregiving and financial burdens on patients' families.

Premier Cho said that satisfaction ratings for the program have exceeded 80% among patients, their families, nursing staff and hospitals, with the services helping to reduce per-day hospitalization cost from NT$2,700 (US$83) to NT$1,050 (US$32), a significant decrease of approximately 60%.

He urged the MOHW to continue expanding integrated inpatient care services by increasing the number of participating hospitals and beds each year, establishing a human resources framework for nursing support, and refining the nursing hierarchy and task allocation models within hospitals to continue benefiting patients and their families.
