Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua Meets with Ambassador of Switzerland to the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Siri Walt

On 19 May, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Mr. Kong Xianhua met with H.E. Siri Walt, Ambassador of Switzerland to the Republic of Maldives. The two sides exchanged views on China-Switzerland relations, the political and economic situation in the Maldives, and regional developments of mutual interest.

Dr. Siri Walt briefed Ambassador Kong on Switzerland's recent economic and social developments, and stated that Switzerland attaches great importance to developing relations with China. She shared Switzerland's views on the current situation in the Maldives, and expressed willingness to maintain communication with the Chinese side to jointly promote regional peace, stability, development and prosperity.

Ambassador Kong introduced China's principled position on the current situation in the Middle East, and briefed the Switzerland's side on the recent visit to China by U.S. President Donald Trump. Ambassador Kong stated that China stands ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation with Switzerland, and work together to provide greater stability and certainty for the development of regional countries including the Maldives.
