The next regular Yuma City Council meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
Here are some of the items scheduled to be presented to City Council for consideration:
City Council Worksession Schedule and Location
A three-month trial changing the schedule and location of City Council worksessions is scheduled for Council consideration. Beginning in January 2027, worksessions would be held at 5:30 p.m. on the Monday preceding each regular Council meeting, primarily in Room 190 at City Hall.
Yuma Road Safety Action Plan
The October 2026 Yuma Road Safety Action Plan is scheduled for Council adoption. The plan uses crash data, public input, and safety analysis to identify higher-risk locations and guide future transportation safety projects, policies, and programs. Its recommendations are intended to reduce serious injury crashes while improving safety for drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users.
Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force Agreement
An intergovernmental agreement with the Arizona Department of Public Safety is scheduled for Council consideration to continue the Yuma Police Department's participation in the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force. The agreement would continue the assignment of one Yuma Police officer to the task force and support regional collaboration, information sharing, and coordinated vehicle theft investigations.
License Agreement with U.S. Department of the Navy
Council will consider a five-year license agreement with the U.S. Department of the Navy for continued use of Kiwanis Park during military training exercises. The agreement establishes requirements for advance notice, coordination, safety and emergency planning, environmental protections, and restoration of the property following each training event.
Shaw Field Lighting
A cooperative purchase agreement for a new lighting system at Shaw Field will be presented to Council for consideration. The project would install permanent, energy-efficient LED lighting, allowing the athletic fields to be used during evening hours and supporting additional recreational and competitive activities.
