ATLANTA - State Representative Brian Prince (D-Augusta), chairman of the House Urban Affairs Committee, applauds the recent Project Grant funding for Rolling Into Wrens: A Mural Worth the Stop in Jefferson County. The Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA), a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, recently announced a $2,500 grant for Rolling Into Wrens: A Mural Worth the Stop as a part of its General Operating Support, Project and Arts Education Program grants.
"My deepest congratulations go to Rolling Into Wrens: A Mural Worth the Stop for achieving this grant award," said Rep. Prince. "This mural will stand as a tribute to the town of Wrens and its rich heritage. Supporting this work of art and its effect on the community is essential, and I am grateful to GCA for recognizing the value of this project. I look forward to the completion of this piece of art and its impact on our communities."
This Project Grant will support the creation of a mural in a prominent location along U.S. Highway 1 in Wrens. Local children participating in the YMCA of Jefferson County's summer programming will collaborate with a Georgia artist to design and paint a community-supported mural that celebrates the history, people and spirit of Wrens.
GCA recently announced more than $1.3 million in competitive grant funding that will be distributed to recipients in 49 counties across the state through GCA's General Operating Support, Project and Arts Education Program grants. Funds awarded by GCA include appropriations from the Georgia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts. A total of 177 grants were awarded during GCA's initial disbursements for fiscal year 2026, and a complete list of these grantees may be found here.
GCA seeks to empower the arts industry in Georgia and artists around the state to cultivate healthy, vibrant communities that are rich in civic participation, cultural experiences and economic prosperity. As part of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Georgia Council for the Arts provides grant funding, programs and services statewide that support this industry, preserve cultural heritage and create increased access to meaningful arts experiences.
