The national average price for a gallon of gasoline hit a whopping $4.18, the highest level since Trump's unpopular war of choice with Iran began two months ago. Diesel prices are currently at $5.46 per gallon, up 45% since the war started. Trump's own Energy Secretary Chris Wright admitted recently that gas prices may not return to pre-war levels until 2027.
As Trump's economy continues to tank, a new Gallup poll released today shows a record 55% of Americans now say their financial situation is getting worse. In the poll, gas and energy prices tied as one of the top issues facing American families.
In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
"Donald Trump started a deadly and costly war with Iran that has continued to drag on for months, forcing Americans to foot the bill to the tune of billions and driving up prices at the pump. Working families, small businesses, and farmers are already struggling to get by in Trump's economy as his disastrous policies push them to the brink. Meanwhile, Trump continues to slash billions of dollars in funding for critical programs that working families rely on for healthcare and food assistance. Americans have had enough of Trump's 'billionaire-first, America-last' agenda."
