The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded the Mount Rogers Community Services Board, based in Wytheville, Virginia, a $1 million grant. The funding supports local substance abuse and mental health services. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:
"Mount Rogers Community Services leads specialized programs for those impacted by mental health struggles and substance use disorders.
"This HHS grant for $1 million helps Mount Rogers Community Services make our communities healthier."
BACKGROUND
According to its website, the Mount Rogers Community Services Board serves the City of Galax well as Bland, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth and Wythe Counties.
Mount Rogers Community Services operates multiple centers in the region.
As a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, Congressman Griffith serves as the Chairman of the Health Subcommittee.
