By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
WHEREAS, the health and well-being of all Virginians is essential to the strength and prosperity of the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Virginia's Community Health Centers provide high-quality, affordable primary and preventive care including medical, dental, behavioral health, vision, and pharmacy services to all patients regardless of their ability to pay; and
WHEREAS, Virginia's Community Health Centers operate more than 200 service sites across the Commonwealth, serving more than 400,000 patients each year, including children, veterans, individuals experiencing homelessness, and residents of rural and underserved communities; and
WHEREAS, these locally governed nonprofit health centers employ nearly 4,000 health care professionals who deliver coordinated, team-based care that improves health outcomes and helps manage chronic disease; and
WHEREAS, Community Health Centers also promote public health through education and outreach while strengthening local economies through job creation and workforce support; and
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia recognizes the dedicated staff, board members, volunteers, and community partners whose commitment ensures that Community Health Centers continue to provide vital, accessible care to Virginians;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Abigail D. Spanberger, Governor, do hereby recognize August 2-8, 2026, as COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER WEEK in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
