Mesa Public Library is collecting valentine cards to deliver to Mesa's assisted living residents. The library will hold valentine-making events for an eighth year to encourage the community to spread love and appreciation during February. Supplies will be provided, and attendees can keep the valentines they create or donate them to be distributed. Library volunteers will deliver the cards in time for Valentine's Day.
"Mesa Library's annual Valentine's Day card drive is about turning creativity into moments of connection," said Mesa Library Director Polly Bonnett. "These events encourage community members to connect across generations through a shared act of kindness."
The valentine-making sessions will take place at Mesa's full-service libraries on the following dates:
•Monday, Feb. 2 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Gateway Library, 5036 S. Eastmark Parkway
•Tuesday, Feb. 3 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Dobson Ranch Library, 2425 S. Dobson Road
•Friday, Feb. 6 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Main Library, 64 E. First St.
•Monday, Feb. 9 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Red Mountain Library, 635 N. Power Road
Mesa Library encourages residents unable to participate in the card-making sessions to make their own cards at home and bring them to the Main, Dobson, Gateway and Red Mountain locations Monday, Feb. 2 through Saturday, Feb. 7.
Last year, the library distributed 2,150 valentines to 30 senior facilities.
