Housing Authority Secures $9 Million State Grant to Acquire 30-Unit Multifamily Property and Expand Housing Solutions for Angelenos

Los Angeles, CA - The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) secured a $9 million funding award to acquire a thirty-unit multifamily property under the state's Homekey+ initiative. The program administered by the California Department of Housing and Community Development, Homekey+ is designed to support communities rapidly expand permanent supportive housing and services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

"Aligning state and local resources is a vital strategy that allows us to quickly convert available properties into permanent housing for the people of Los Angeles," said HACLA President and CEO Lourdes Castro Ramírez. "We are grateful to the State of California for its continued investment in Los Angeles and look forward to creating even more housing opportunities for Angelenos to find a stable place they can call home."

In partnership with Finding Hope Inc., HACLA will acquire 630 N. Oxford Avenue in Los Angeles and convert the new multifamily building and two accessory dwelling units (ADUs) into 28 units of permanent supportive housing, in addition to two manager units. Located in the Wilshire Center-Koreatown neighborhood, the property is within one mile of transportation stops, a medical clinic, a grocery store/supermarket, library, pharmacy, and a public park and community center.

People Assisting The Homeless (PATH) will provide future residents with access to supportive services including intensive case management services, behavioral and physical health services.

"Each of these awards represents a pathway to stability and opportunity for so many Californians who have struggled to maintain housing amid rising costs and personal challenges...," said HCD Director Gustavo Velasquez in a press release. "Modeled on the Governor's highly successful Homekey program-and made possible by the forward-thinking voters of this state-Homekey+ is laying the foundation for generational impacts and continued reductions in unsheltered homelessness."
