Georges River Council, in partnership with the St George Domestic Violence Committee, will hold a Candlelight Vigil on Wednesday 6 May 2026 to mark National Domestic Violence Remembrance Day.
The Vigil continues to be an important event for community members to honour victim survivors and reflect on our collective responsibility to support one another, take action and raise awareness to end domestic and family violence.
Domestic Violence Remembrance Day is part of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month in May. The month is dedicated to raising awareness of the impacts of domestic violence, highlighting the need for change and supporting those affected by violence.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "The St George Candlelight Vigil serves as a meaningful reminder that remembrance must be accompanied by sustained action, compassion and long-term support for victim survivors".
"Our community's ongoing commitment to this event is a testament to the unity, support and solidarity shown by the Georges River community."
