Brazil confirmed as co-chair of the Alliance Board of the Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA)

Brazil has been confirmed co-chair of the Alliance Board of the Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA), alongside India. The Board is the Alliance's highest governance body. Brazil will also be a member of the GBA Executive Committee, responsible for guiding the implementation of the Alliance's strategy and work programme, together with India, Italy and Kenya.

The GBA seeks to promote the production and use of biofuels, foster market development and bring together major producing and consuming countries. Its planned activities include capacity-building across the value chain, technical support to national programmes, the exchange of experiences and technological advances, and the promotion of sustainability in biofuel production.

The Alliance was launched in 2023, on the margins of the G20 Leaders' Summit in India. Brazil took an active part in developing the initiative and is a founding member of the GBA.

The Alliance's headquarters are in New Delhi, and it currently brings together 34 countries and 14 international organizations.
