Joining a student organization at Adelphi University is a positive, growth-oriented experience grounded in respect, safety and belonging. To reinforce these values and comply with the Stop Campus Hazing Act (Clery Act), Adelphi publishes a Campus Hazing Transparency Report and maintains a strict Anti-Hazing Policy. The report provides students, families and the campus community with clear, accurate information about substantiated hazing incidents involving recognized student organizations, supporting safe and informed participation in campus life.
While our Anti-Hazing Policy defines hazing and outlines prohibited conduct, the Campus Hazing Transparency Report serves as a public log of substantiated incidents in which established or recognized student organizations were found responsible for hazing violations. It includes:
The report is updated every December and June and can be viewed on Adelphi's Stop Campus Hazing web page.
January 1, 2026, to June 30, 2026: No incidents of hazing that resulted in investigation and adjudication were reported during this period.
Adelphi opposes hazing in any form. We remind all students, faculty and staff that our Anti-Hazing Policy applies to all student organizations-whether officially recognized by the University or not. Violations may result in serious consequences under both the Adelphi Code of Conduct and New York state Penal Law (Sections 120.16 and 120.17), ranging from University expulsion to potential criminal penalties.
Later this year, hazing statistics will also be included in Adelphi's Annual Security and Fire Safety Report (ASFSR), published annually by October 1. Both reports include information about hazing but serve different purposes and follow different federal reporting requirements.
We strongly encourage timely reporting to the appropriate authorities through the following channels:
Thank you for helping foster a culture of respect, safety and belonging for every member of our community.
