Apply for Research!America's Microgrant Opportunities for Early-Career Scientists

Graduate students, postdocs, and professional students in STEMM fields interested in public engagement, communication, and policy are encouraged to apply for Research!America's Civic Engagement Microgrant Program and Public Engagement Content Awards by Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. ET. These programs provide early-career researchers with valuable funding and experience to strengthen connections between science and society.

Civic Engagement Microgrant Program

Applications are now open for the 2025-2026 cycle. This program awards up to $4,000 on a rolling basis to STEM student- and postdoc-led groups to design and execute projects that create dialogue with public officials, community leaders, and the public. Supported by the Rita Allen Foundation, the program helps participants build skills in communication, public policy, and program management while advancing civic engagement through science.

Public Engagement Content Awards

Offering $5,000 stipends for the 2025-2026 cohort, this award supports open-access curriculum development in science communication and public engagement. Supported by the Lasker Foundation, Rita Allen Foundation, Dana Foundation, and science communicator Dennis Mangan, the program aims to expand publicly available training that empowers scientists to engage effectively with society.
