Boise State remembers Melinda Keckler

The campus community is invited to celebrate the life of Melinda Keckler, longtime Boise State employee and former Director of Marketing in the Office of Communications and Marketing. Melinda died on Jan. 10, 2026.

A funeral mass will begin at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, at St. Paul's Catholic Student Center, 1915 W. University Drive. A reception will follow, beginning at approximately 1:30 p.m. in the Alumni and Friends Center Ballroom, 1173 W. University Drive.

Keckler worked at Boise State for nearly two decades and retired in March 2025. She was named the Professional Staff Association Outstanding Employee of the Year in 2023. She loved working with her colleagues, and particularly interacting with and working with students on various Boise State marketing campaigns and projects. She consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic thinking and a deep commitment to advancing the Boise State brand.

Upon her retirement from Boise State in March 2025, former Chief Communications and Marketing Officer Lauren Griswold noted the following: "Melinda's retirement marks the end of an era, but her impact on the Boise State brand will resonate for generations to come. Her kindness, talent and generous spirit as a leader have touched countless individuals and shaped the very essence of how Boise State is perceived both locally and nationally. Melinda's vision and dedication have been instrumental in building the brand we cherish today, leaving a legacy that will live on in the university's visual identity, marketing campaigns, and the hearts of all who have had the privilege of working alongside her."
