Watch: Bruin Nobel winner Fred Ramsdell on UCLA, research funding and his ‘Nobel dinner’

Immunologist Frederick J. "Fred" Ramsdell, a UCLA alumnus who earned his doctorate in microbiology and immunology in 1987, was awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine Oct. 6 for his groundbreaking work on how the human immune system regulates itself. He shared the prize with colleagues Mary Brunkow and Shimon Sakaguchi.
