Edmonton Regional Airports Authority issued $50,000 penalty for violations of the ATPDR2026-09-25

September 25, 2026 - Gatineau, QC - The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) has issued an administrative monetary penalty of $50,000 against the Edmonton Regional Airports Authority for two violations of the Accessible Transportation for Persons with Disabilities Regulations (ATPDR).

On or about November 18, 2025, the Edmonton Regional Airports Authority committed one violation of subsection 231(1) of the ATPDR by failing to ensure that the door providing access to the designated service dog relief area at Edmonton International Airport was in good working order and properly maintained.

Between November 18 and December 2, 2025, the Edmonton Regional Airports Authority committed one violation of subsection 231(2) of the ATPDR by failing to ensure that the door was repaired as soon as possible and, before temporary accessibility measures were implemented, by failing to take measures that would provide a substantially equivalent or greater level of accessibility for persons with disabilities.

The Edmonton Regional Airports Authority has until October 28, 2026 to request a review before the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada.
